With proper maintenance it stays just fine.
Wrong, or wrong. You be the judge.

Fair enough, but toploaders have advanced so much lately. Plus they always win on ergonomics and load capacity. But we’ll never be able to stack them or put them under a countertop.

So that’s why the washing machine is so unreliable .

Also worth mentioning is that frontloaders are self balancing. My mom murdered a fairly new top load by always loading it wrong, it shook itself to death.

GE washer? I bet their designs (or a least lack of longevity) was inspired by Ford. I’m pretty sure the “GE” stands for their engineering motto: Good Enough.
That said, I suppose we do a lot of laundry. It shakes pretty bad a lot of the time, the rubber seal is always full of water and stinks, and the filter thing is a bit of a pain to clean out.

3 spoke wheels are like the ugliest thing ever.

Also working against top loaders is their “arms race” for max load capacity. Our newish LG does a pretty good job but if you toss a thick bath rug in there, it can get loud. But it does a pretty good job of self-balancing.
